Winchester Half Marathon are delighted to announce Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity as Lead Local Charity partner for the event.
The Winchester Half Marathon is going into its second year with 2,000 runners taking part on Sunday 24th September. Over £45,000 was raised at the 2016 event for various local and national charities. Winchester Half Marathon is a beautiful run that starts and finishes in the centre of Winchester outside the Guildhall. The Winchester Half Marathon is a very scenic route through the idyllic setting of the countryside and takes in landmarks such as St Catherine’s Hill, Winchester Cathedral and King Alfred the Great.
Kate Warne, Community Liaison Officer for ReesLeisure (the organisers of the Winchester Half Marathon) explained; ‘We are very excited to have Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity on board as our Lead Local Charity this year. Countess Mountbatten Hospice do some amazing work and are very important to our community. We appreciate their support at our event and we’re very happy to help highlight the charity to all our runners and spectators.’

Located in West End Southampton, their area covers a population of over 1 million across South Central Hampshire. The charity needs to raise over £1 million every year to support the running of the hospice and enhance patient care which couldn't be done without the support of the local community.
