Lawyers limber up for charity run

A group of solicitors from Southampton and Poole are swapping their suits for sneakers as they take on the Winchester Half Marathon on September 24.

Staff from law firm Trethowans are lacing up their trainers and hoping to raise £800 for The Joe Glover Trust, one of Trethowans’ dedicated charities of the year, by taking part.

The team of 10 is made up of staff with varying levels of running experience, with some seasoned runners and others taking on their first ever half marathon. Among those limbering up for the event is Kelvin Farmaner, partner and head of Trethowans’ dispute resolution group.

He said: “It is a double privilege to take part in the Winchester Half Marathon. On the one hand the team at Trethowans have the opportunity to raise funds for the fantastic charity that is The Joe Glover Trust children’s cancer charity. On the other hand, hard on the heels of opening our Winchester office, we all get to take part in an exciting event which has fast become one of the most popular in Winchester.”

Trethowans raised more than £8,000 for The Joe Glover Trust last year. The Southampton-based charity aims to make a real difference to the lives of children with cancer and their families. Since its inception it has offered practical, emotional and financial support to thousands of people in the area.

Jane Wilmshurst, fundraising and events manager at The Joe Glover Trust, said: “Trethowans has been such a supportive fundraiser over recent years and we’re absolutely delighted to see they’re showing no signs of slowing down. Completing a half marathon is no easy task so we’re wishing them the best of luck for September 24.”
