Macmillan Cancer Support urges runners to join the Winchester Half Marathon

If you fancy running for a great cause - find out more here.

Macmillan Cancer Support has launched a campaign to recruit 100 local residents to take on a 13.1 mile running challenge.
The charity is hoping scores of local people will sign up to the Winchester Half Marathon on the 25th September, and join Team Macmillan to help raise cash that will be used to fund vital cancer services.
Senior Fundraising Manager for Hampshire, Alice Dewsnap-Smith said:  “We are delighted to be platinum partners of this exciting event, as our runners will be helping us in our aim to ensure no one has to face cancer alone.”
“Signing up to take on the Winchester Half is a fantastic way to motivate yourself to get fit or to stay fit.”
“If you decide to do it for Macmillan then it will give you even more motivation because you’ll know that with every step you take, you are raising money for people affected by cancer.”
“You’ll also get fantastic support from Macmillan before the event with your training, and on the day we’ll be at the Macmillan water station, cheering you on, to help you reach the finish line.”
All the money raised from the run will be used to fund Macmillan's vital cancer services, from specialist nurses and doctors, to help and advice for people who have financial problems as a result of their cancer.”
