Senior Fundraising Manager for Macmillan in Hampshire, Alice Dewsnap-Smith said: “We are delighted to be platinum partners of this exciting event, as our runners will be helping us in our aim to ensure no one has to face cancer alone.”

“Signing up to take on the Winchester Half is a fantastic way to motivate yourself to get fit or to stay fit.”

HR Heads and Procurement Heads are teaming up and taking part in the Winchester Half Marathon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. A boutique recruitment company based in the centre of Winchester, they are always striving to give back to others. Martin, Jen, Helen and Emma have kicked off their training running in their lunch break, hitting the gym and taking on some longer runs at the weekends.

Collectively, the business has been supporting Macmillan for many years and want to continue giving as much as they can to the cancer charity. Founder, Jen Gaster, began raising money for Macmillan when a family member was diagnosed with stomach cancer and Macmillan supported throughout the diagnosis, treatment and beyond. Macmillan realises that cancer can feel lonely at times and the money raised goes into making sure the patient and their families have someone there from the beginning giving a constant source of support and the energy to fight back.

Hopefully the team will inspire you to support them, in supporting Macmillan. Donate here:

The Winchester Half Marathon was announced earlier this year by the ABP Southampton Half and 10K organisers, Rees Leisure. With the inaugural Winchester Half Marathon fast approaching, the Marafun team is working hard to make it an event where everyone can get involved. Scheduled for the morning of Sunday 25th September, to tie in with the Winchester Community Games in the afternoon.
