The Winchester Half Marathon was announced earlier this year by the ABP Southampton Half and 10K organisers, Rees Leisure. With the inaugural Winchester Half Marathon fast approaching, the Marafun team is working hard to make it an event where everyone can get involved. Scheduled for the morning of Sunday 25th September, to tie in with the Winchester Community Games in the afternoon, the runners will need as many #WINCity Marshals as possible to keep spirits high and support them around the route.
Chris Rees, Managing Director of Rees Leisure, said “If people can get together a group of 20 or more marshals to man a water station or another marshalling point on the day, they could secure a donation of £200 for their club! However, applications need to be in soon, to have a chance of being involved and benefiting from a donation. Go to the Winchester Half website (www.winchesterhalf.co.uk) and click on 'Sign Up Here'”
Winchester SALT have gotten involved in the recruitment process of this September’s Winchester Half Marathon, Emma Back, the CEO of SALT said “After the race, of course, your marshal group can head on down to the Winchester Community Games at the Sports Stadium in Bar End, for even more fun, food, and a chance to relax!” Winchester SALR have 100 spaces in the race for runners to fundraise for them - please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Fee Francis, the new Race Director for the ABP Southampton Half and 10K said “this event is new and fresh, it is ABP Southampton Half and 10K’s sister event and we hope to make it one of the best days in the city. We will be bringing the whole of Winchester together not only celebrating the history but also the local activities.”
