Nikki Rees takes up the mantle as Managing Director of ReesLeisure Ltd
Nikki Rees, the previous Event Manager of ReesLeisure for events such as the ABP Southampton Marathon, Half & 10k and the May Day Triathlon in Winchester, has recently stepped up to take on the challenging role of Managing Director. Having worked for ReesLeisure on and off for the past 12 years since older brother, Chris Rees, started the first ReesLeisure company, Wessex Swim School; Nikki has worked on aspects of every part of the fast-growing business.
“I’m really looking forward to taking on the stimulating role of Managing Director at ReesLeisure. Each day is completely different and I’m lucky enough to be involved in such varied businesses from the ABP Southampton Marathon, to TryTri Events, and Wessex Swim School. I’m thrilled to be running the business at a time when we have so many new events starting up and the current businesses are going from strength to strength. I know 2017 is going to be a busy and very exciting year – starting off with the fantastic new Southampton Celebration Proms on 29th January!”
ReesLeisure has grown Wessex Swim School up to nearly 950 pupils across 3 different cities. It has also expanded its events businesses to include the ABP Southampton Marathon, Half marathon & 10k (with approximately 10,000 runners for 2017); the Winchester Half marathon. TryTri Events, a subsidiary company of ReesLeisure, includes the Radley Duathlon; May Day triathlon in Winchester and the much anticipated new triathlon starting and finishing in the stunning grounds of St Swithun’s School, Winchester.
Nikki and Chris are still working closely together as his focus turns to business development and includes the introduction of two new sports into the business with Southampton Sailing Week in May 2017 and Cycle Southampton coming to the city in September of next year.
