The Winchester Half Marathon could not happen without our wonderful volunteers!
In 2016 we had over 200 volunteers helping us marshal the course, working in the baggage hall, managing the water stations and handing out those all important medals!
If you would like to get involved in this event but don't fancy running - here's how:
Key areas such as a water station or busy road junction will need a small team of volunteers. We invite your club or group to ‘own’ one of these key areas. Work as a team and take responsibility for your area. Bring along club flags or branding.
We will also have space (area TBC) to have a Clubs meet section. We will need to book in your club prior to 31st July 2017. If you would like to showcase your club or set up a meeting point please email email@example.com with your requirements such as space for Club gazebo or space for a flag or banner to meet.
We love to have local groups helping out managing areas such as the baggage hall or water stations, as well as marshalling a mile.
In return Winchester Half Marathon will donate £200 to your charity or community group. e.g. Guides & Scouts, Women's Institute, Running Clubs or Church Groups.
This is an opportunity to raise awareness of your group by cheering on the runners with your branded flags and banners!
All of your volunteers will receive hi-vis jackets to mark them out for the day. The leader of the group will be required to attend a briefing ahead of race day.
We have 13.1 miles to cover and you will need a minimum of 20 people to gain the £200. This will be awarded in the form of a cheque to your group after the event by one of the Marafun team on behalf of the Winchester Half Marathon.
There will be opportunities to showcase your club, group or cause as each of our ABP Mile Makers will have a blog post, pictures and posts on facebook, twitter on our e-newsletters.
