Winchester Half Marathon are delighted to announce Naomi House & Jacksplace as Lead Local Charity for the 2018 event!

Winchester Half Marathon to partner with local charity

The Winchester Half Marathon is going into its third year with 2,000 runners taking part on Sunday 23rd September 2018. Over £60,000 was raised at the 2017 event for various local and national charities. Winchester Half Marathon is a beautiful run that starts and finishes in the centre of Winchester outside the Guildhall.  This Half Marathon is a very scenic route through the idyllic setting of the countryside and takes in landmarks such as St Catherine’s Hill, Winchester Cathedral and the statue of King Alfred the Great.

Kate Warne, Community Liaison Officer for ReesLeisure (the organisers of the Winchester Half Marathon) explained; ‘We are very excited to have Naomi House & Jacksplace on board as our Lead Local Charity this year. The hospice do some amazing work and are very important to our community. We appreciate their support at our event and we’re very happy to help highlight the charity to all our runners and spectators.’

The charity have got a team of runners from Hampshire Constabulary supporting them at this years event. Nicole Davies, Events Fundraiser at Naomi house & Jacksplace, said: “While we care for children, young adults and families from across seven counties, Winchester is very much our home. We are delighted to be working with the fantastic team at Rees Leisure and a really high quality event like the Winchester Half Marathon. We hope to see record numbers of Naomi House & Jacksplace runners at this year’s event, all doing their bit to support children and young adults on good days, difficult days and last days.”

Located in Sutton Scotney, Naomi House & Jacksplace hospices provide expert hospice care to more than 325 life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their extended families from Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Berkshire, West Sussex, Surrey and the Isle of Wight.

The charity needs to raise over £8 million every year to support the running of the hospice and enhance patient care which couldn't be done without the support of the local community.
